audacity: windows Vs. Linux

i have a pc AMDXP 2000+ (1.67Ghz) with 256Mb of ram two HDDs one for linux and one for windows, the windows HDD is faster than the one for linux (hdparm -t for windows HDD:20.4 while for linux HDD:1.6)
i have a recorded musical of 1:45 hrs in wav format of 1.2 Gb nad i used audacity and lame to cut it into tracks and encode it to mp3

  • on windows it took around 5 mins to load the wav file

during my 3 years with linux i haven't been able to completely dump MS out of my head . . .
why? because i can run macromedia dreamweaver and flash on windows.
i mailed macromedia i tried other alternatives but at the end i couldn't find a real replacement, so i finally tried wine and i tried some windows apps and had luck with some but still Dream weaver no untill i found winetools it solved the problem i can use macromedia dreamweaver and flash on linux i even could run IE6(who needs that ? but why not!)

reservation module

i created a reservation module (finally) for drupal that works like a poll but i would record who is chose what option so that we can count who is coming to events and who isn't
still needs a little tweaking but should be ready by noon today yippiiieee :D

yesterday i tried to hack the poll module to create a reservation module to be used with meetings and all events that need reservation but it was a failure :(

finally had the time to setup drupal on my laptop i just tackled to the basic features and setup i tried PHPNUKE before but drupal is cooler i should be now trying to help with EGLUG challenges wish me luck good luck
