It seems that the doesn't really care about piracy. They only care about a small number of products. And those products seems to mainly originate from one company. You all know ? right ? gamevalley store front Anyways, GameValley sells the latest , Playstation 2 and PC games for fraction of its real cost in nice packages that looks as if authentic. A PS2 DVD Game costs 50 EGP (less than 10 USD)!! games I wonder when will Shortet El Mosanafat wake up and starts cracking down on those guys. I am sure some of you know more about this.

they do crack down

not sure if they did anything to game valley before, probably not, but al mosanafat do go after smaller shops that sell these games from time to time.

cheers,
Alaa

simply i do not have any lice

simply i do not have any licenses of Micro$oft cause i am not using it's products anymore.

when i bought a laptop i was enforced to accept the fact ( i bought ms license)

if you want to give your people break and use pirated games ,you are breaking the law(means that you are hunted and you stool something)

you don't get the point

For sure we would like to play games. For sure we would love if Egyptian kids would play games cheaply and affordably.

This is not the point of this post. It is to show people that the BSA which is trying to protect companies from losing money, is only protecting a few companies namely Microsoft and the other BSA members.

The BSA, lobbied so hard in poor and developing countries to fight software piracy. The BSA sat with leaders of nations and imposed amnesty to governements. They prosecute people and claim to be enforcing laws and protecting the software industry.

But they are not doing anything to prevent piracy of software other than their own. They are fighting piracy of the products of a few companies only. And the local police seems to care only for the BSA products.

May be people are sympathetic with GameValley. They probably leave kids entertained and happy with cheap games. However, this would be a shallow point of view.

  • What about other small companies that suffer from the harsh enforcement of BSA policies ? Why would Game Valley be exempt ?
  • Since the GameValley is contributing nothing to the game development why is it selling each game at a relatively expensive price tag. When probably the price of the DVD and packaging would not cost more than 20 EGP with even a profit margin.
