mplayer mandrake rpm with arabic shaping support for subtitles

Submitted by mhlmi on Fri, 01/04/2005 - 4:48pm.

this package was patched with the arabic shaping support patch found on the arabeyes mailing lists , phaeron updated the patch to work with the latest mplayer version (MPlayer 1.0pre6 at this time) , I applied the patch and repacked the mandrake package, and amrgo (aka alienbrain) has it hosted on his work place server here http://www.egyfilm.com/amr/mplayer.php

  • Usage Instructions:

1. extract the file using:

tar xvfjp mplayer.tar.bz2

2. read the README file included for installation instructions:

cd mplayer

less README

3. the README file was made in a hurry and it maybe full of typing mistakes, and severe formatting mistakes aswell, read it with patience. for instance, the extraction command in the README is NOT correct

jaa

It works

thanks thanks ... its fantastic .. thanks alot ...

patch it ur self and compile

patch it ur self and compile it,it is easier and this rpm's have meny dependences that i can't(in my case) resolve

khaledhosny's picture

dependencies?!!!

why are you resolving dependencies on your own aslan? you should use urpmi.

Alaa

the missing backages not incl

the missing backages not included in the cd's ,so i need to add the mirrors which i did, but urpmi still missing the packages (i don't know why)

khaledhosny's picture

all the repositories?

you probably need to add main, contrib, plf free and plf non-free repositories, are you sure you have the 4 properly configured?

Alaa

no

I'm too lazy to add all of them as it takes several hours with my slow connection,so the source fulfill my needs :)

khaledhosny's picture

aah you are not versed in the secrets

you should be using easy urpmi, when adding a package repository you can choose to use a small index instead of the large one that takes hours to download.

the small index contains the package name, version and information about dependencies but not details like the changlos, list of files in the package, package description etc.

note in easy urpmi the use compressed index option.

if you are adding sources from the command line using autodiscovery you can use the --probe-synthesis option

for more info read the urpmi.addmedia man page.

Alaa
