but it is true

yet it is true that this particular signature is annoying, we don't have a way to restrict signatures since they are pasted and anything allowed in posts is allowed in signatures, all we can do is apply to common sense.

if your signature is larger than your post then you should think about changing the signature.

cheers,

Relax fella.

Enable arabic in Openoffice

phaeronix's picture
  • Choose the tools -- options menu.
  • In the left hand pane exapnd the "Language settings" menu.
  • Choose the language sub-item.
  • On the right check the last option in enhanced language support -- "Enabled for complex text layout (CTL)"
  • On the right choose in Default languages for documents -- CTL -- "Arabic (Egypt)"
  • Now you will have option to switch from LTR to RTL
  • Add keyboard layout in gnome keyboard settings or its equivalent in KDE.
  • Make sure you have fonts that have arabic characters.
  • Good luck.

Assalam Alikum,

I have done all your points here, and I have installed avery good set of arabic fonts. Yet I can't right in Arabic in the OOo. What should I do? I mean what is the equivalent to Alt+Shift (right) for the OOo.

M B.

PS. I like your style of answering this question. The 1,2,3 formt is the best format for answering.

xorg.conf

add this line into /etc/X11/xorg.conf under Section "InputDevice" for your keyboard

Option "XkbOptions" "compose:rwin,grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"

I can only write in arabic

mborn's picture

I can only write in arabic when I add arabic to the keyboard layout. I can´t get back to englsih unless I remove arabic from the layout. I want to know how can I easily toggle between the two languages? The default for my keyboard to toggle is Ctrl+Alt+K, which I kept for the moment.

PS. After adding your line to my xorg.conf, I noticed nothing with the Alt+Shift compination! What should I do else.
