mplayer arabic subtitle

i have slackware 10.2 . i need to display arabic subtitle on a amovie..

i downloaded teh aric font ae_Arab and put it in the font directory of mplayer , but i can't see the subtitle words still.. all what i see is that kind of question marks.. any ideas?
